Hertfordshire Local Pharmaceutical Committee represents and supports all pharmacy contractors in Hertfordshire.
Since 1st April 2010 there has been just one Primary Care Trust in Hertfordshire known as NHS Hertfordshire. The trust is made up wholly of the combined trusts in operation prior to this date ie: East and North Hertfordshire PCT and West Hertfordshire PCT. The PCT is responsible for commissioning local health services, including pharmacy services, and improving public health. The PCTs have a statutory duty to consult the LPC on all matters relating to the pharmacy contract and local enhanced services.
The LPC is constituted according to the model constitution set out by the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee and operates within a corporate governance framework. Funding for the LPC is derived from a levy paid by all pharmacy contractors in Hertfordshire.
The LPC negotiates for local enhanced services such as the supply of emergency hormonal contraception, needle exchange, supervised methadone consumption, chlamydia screening and smoking cessation services. The LPC also supports the implementation of the pharmacy contractual framework by liaising with contractors and the PCT. The LPC also provides services to support Hertfordshire contractors including a patient satisfaction survey service.
LPC meetings
Hertfordshire LPC holds five or six meetings each year. Three of these meetings are 'Open' and therefore may be attended by any contractor or community pharmacist in Hertfordshire, as well as the LPC committee members, LPC executive team and invited guests from the PCT and other local organisations. In addition, we hold 'Closed' meetings which are only attended by the committee members and executive team.
The committee discusses potential new services for commissioning through community pharmacy and considers how existing services can be further supported and implemented more widely.
The LPC also holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to which all community pharmacy contractors are invited. The Annual Report and Annual Financial Report are presented at the AGM.
If you would like to attend the Open meetings or the AGM (dates available in LPC meetings section on our website). For further information please contact the LPC Office
