Information Governance

Information Governance (IGSoC) - A well attended Pharmacy Development Group Meeting on 17th Feb 2010 learnt about the new Information Govenrnance (IG) obligations on community pharmacy. Mrs Frances Dixon, Primary Care Information Specialist at the PCT did a presentation which helpfully showed pharmacists what to focus on in the short and medium terms.

The LPC recieved the following very helpful correspondence which we would draw to pharmacists attention.

Dear Community Pharmacist in Coventry ,

I have pulled together some documents and links that will be of use to pharmacies looking to complete the Information Governance Toolkit.  Remember you should register the pharmacy and enter a baseline achievement by March 31st?  It is all clearly explained in the PSNC workbook, but I am happy to talk people through it if they get into difficulties.

Information Governance Resource Pack on CfH website - aimed at Primary Care trusts and GPs but some good exemplar materials for staff training and awareness.

Let me know if there is anything else I can assist with: I will send more documents if I think they will be useful or if there are specific requests.

Regards,

Frances
